How the current edition started

The idea behind this year’s TEDxHECParis started with a group of MBA students who saw a common problem in their community: public speaking was not a focus of their curriculum. However, we believed that being an effective communicator is integral to achieving one’s goals. We realised that the student body was overflowing with amazing ideas, but, often, failed to communicate them effectively in a formal setting. This led them us to ponder as to how we could help our peers shine on stage.

And so, the dream of TEDxHECParis was born.

Having evolved into a campus-wide movement, our team is delighted to present to you members of HEC’s entire community, sharing their incredible and inspiring ideas.

Where are we now?

We have a date: April 5, 2019

We have a venue: Blondeau amphitheater in the HEC Paris campus.

We have speakers. Take a peek at our Speakers page for a preview before the day.

Our theme, "Crawl, Walk, Talk", describes the journey of an idea through its nascent stages to one of finality: to be shared with a global audience. The theme of the event came from what we saw happening all around us: peers with good ideas, but who had trouble developing and articulating them clearly. As in the case of learning to run, learning to talk about an idea is a process.

You first have a spark, it involves creativity, to compel yourself to think differently.

You then start shaping the idea. You find other references and discuss it with a few to make the idea clearer.

You are able to share the idea succinctly - to aim to raise awareness and move the world.

This will be the third edition of TEDxHECParis, the previous ones were on October 18, 2013 and September 26, 2014.

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxHECParis, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxHECParis event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
